Lisa Hillyard was born in Williamsport, Pennsylvanialisa-hillyard-3. She has lived here all her life. Lisa is the second oldest of 11. She has many great lifetime memories of being part of a large family.  Helping with babysitting and chores were not an option. They all had to pitch in. She did not live on a farm but had strawberry fields and fruit trees in the backyard. Gardening was a normal routine. Her mother canned and froze all she could. Lisa’s parents had a swimming pool at home so the rule was “No swimming until the chores were done.”  The pool was a great incentive to get all our work done quickly.

Lisa spent all of her childhood living on “Lorson Road” surrounded by her family and many cousins. It was a neighborhood where you could be safe and never get away with anything because someone always would report back to “Mom and Dad”. One of the fun things they would do was to build forts in the woods and sleep in them overnight.

Lisa attended Immaculate Conception School, a very small Catholic school in the Valley until seventh grade. Lisa then moved on to Jersey Shore junior and senior high school where she graduated. She played softball for several years and then went on to coach youth girls’ softball. She pitched and played centerfield.

At the beginning of her senior year in high school Lisa was chosen to participate in a Work Experience Program. Lisa was chosen to work at Jersey Shore Steel Company her senior year. This was awesome for her. She got to work and get paid and only reported to school for one hour in the morning. This program was offered to a student who showed excellent business skills.

Her career continued at Jersey Shore Steel Company where she worked in several different roles such as,Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Raw Material Manager, and Office Manager, then on to IT Coordinator. Lisa has many fond memories working at the Mill. Lisa worked at the Mill for 29 years.

When the Natural Gas Boom came to the area Lisa decided she wanted to expand her horizons and decided to accept a job with JW Measurement in Muncy. Her role was Area Administrator where she managed all operations at that location. Lisa was able to travel frequently by corporate jets owned by the company. She loved not having to deal with airport security and baggage checks. Lisa worked at JW for 6 years.

Lisa is married to Doug and lives back on “Lorson Road” overlooking the Valley surrounded by her family. Lisa has a daughter Brittany Brooks and a son-in-law Josh who live up Pine Creek. They have a one year old daughter Ellie Grace. Lisa also has a step-daughter Katlyn Hillyard who lives in Jersey Shore. She has a two year old son Sawyer. Doug and Lisa’s biggest accomplishment is being “La La” and “Pops” to their grandchildren. In Lisa’s spare time she enjoys family, sewing, and interior design.
