We have developed this website to serve as a resource for people over age 50 (or who have special needs) and their families and for those professionals who provide services to them. On these pages you will find information about finding and financing long term care, including home care options, and nursing home planning, Medicaid (Medical Assistance), Medicare, Veterans Aid and Attendance, special needs planning and other issues that confront a family when a spouse, parent, child or other family member needs care and assistance.

You will also find helpful information about wills, trusts, powers of attorney,  advance health care directives and other legal tools that can be used to protect the financial security of older adults and to ensure that their wishes will be followed both during their lifetimes and after they are gone. If you or your family members need assistance with estate planning, special needs planning, probate and estate administration, and planning for aging, illness, and long term care, you have come to the right place.

You can also sign-up for our free e-mail newsletter, The Elder Care Law Alert, which can help you stay up to on the many changes taking place with the laws and programs that are of significance to seniors. You can even invite Marshall, Parker & Associates to speak to your club, civic, church, or professional organization.

For Pennsylvania Seniors & Their Families

The Elder Law Firm of Marshall, Parker & Associates specializes in legal planning for seniors. We provide comprehensive services that cover both traditional estate planning issues and specialized lifetime care planning from our offices in Williamsport, Jersey Shore, and Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.

  • Traditional Estate Planning: We provide our clients with wills, trusts, powers of attorney, guardianship, and estate administration services. We are proud of our firm's reputation for thoroughness, quality, and service. We will help you and your family through the maze of legal, tax, and family issues.

  • Lifetime Planning: Lifetime planning (sometimes referred to as Medicaid Planning) and problems related to long term care are increasingly important issues for seniors. Four out of every ten people reaching age 65 will spend some time in a nursing home, and many more will require home care and assistance with daily living. The need for long term care may arise as a result of mental disorders (e.g. Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia), vascular problems (e.g. stroke), heart disease, diabetes, respiratory problems (e.g. COPD), falls, or a combination of these causes.

The Elder Law Firm of Marshall, Parker & Associates is known throughout Northeast and Central Pennsylvania for the expert help we provide seniors who are faced with long term care needs. We help caregivers find ways to get the help they need to keep their loved one at home for as long as possible through programs like the PDA 60+ Waiver.  We help you get the help you need so that the highest quality care can be provided in the most appropriate setting (at-home, assisted living or nursing facility).  For over twenty years, we have helped families across Northeast and Central Pennsylvania to obtain financial assistance from Medicaid and other governmental programs to pay for the needed care.

If nursing home placement becomes necessary, we work with the facility to help make the transition go as smoothly as possible. We make certain that the nursing facility gets paid in a timely manner while teaching the family how they can pay nursing home costs without losing their homes or going broke.

If you are concerned about losing your life's savings or your home to the cost of nursing home care, or if someone you love is facing a nursing home stay, or is already in a nursing home, you can benefit from Marshall, Parker & Associates' expert help.

We will show you the planning options available to you, and help you implement a plan tailored to your unique circumstances and needs.

Our team of legal and elder care planning professionals have well over 100 years combined experience in meeting the needs of older persons in Pennsylvania. We provide that extra knowledge, experience, service, and value that can make all the difference in the world in helping you achieve your goals, whether it's Medicaid Planning, Estate Planning or Estate Administration.
