Jeff Marshall
, managing attorney of Marshall, Parker & Associates, is quoted in
a recent Wall Street Journal article
entitled, "Nursing Homes, Medicaid and Your Assets."
The article discusses strategies estate planning experts use to
protect assets from nursing home costs.
Planning for nursing home and other long term care costs has
been significantly affected by the passage of the Deficit
Reduction Act of 2005.
"Estate-planning experts say
some options remain open for those who want to pass on some assets,
such as a home, through a trust, or preserve some income for a spouse
in certain kinds of annuities," writes Tom Lauricella of the Journal. The article
goes on to discuss the growing use of these highly specialized trusts
and annuities.
