Summer is finally here and our staff has been busy.  We thought you might like to know what we've been doing throughout Northeast and Central PA and maybe we'll even see you at one of our upcoming events!

Marshall & Associates Present at 6th Annual

Elder Law Institute

Sponsored By: The Pennsylvania Bar Institute

Date:  July 24th and July 25th, 2003

Place:  Harrisburg Hilton and Towers

Over 300 attorneys, paralegals, and elder care services professionals will gather in Harrisburg later this month for the PA Bar Institute's 6th Annual Elder Law Institute.  The Institute "stands out as the best conference of its kind on elder law anywhere in the country" and once again, the staff at Marshall & Associates are playing a vital role in the success of this 2-day event.

For the 3rd consecutive year, Attorney Marshall has been asked to open the plenary session, "The Year in Review".  Attorney Marshall and fellow Certified Elder Law Attorney, Robert Clofine (www.estateattorney.com) will bring attendees up-to-date on all the significant case law and legislative developments impacting the elderly. This has become such a popular event, that the PBI has expanded the session to a full 90-minutes!  Attorney Marshall, along with a panel of experts from across the state, will also present a break-out session entitled, "The Gray(ing) Areas of Medicaid".

Also, The Pennsylvania Bar Institute has recognized Marshall & Associates' success at incorporating Geriatric Care Managers into an elder law firm, therefore, they have asked our own Geriatric Planning Specialist, Lisa Barner and Attorney Marshall to co-present a session about utilizing care mangers in an elder law practice and the added benefits this provides to our clients.

If you would like more information about the Elder Law Institute or would like to register, visit the Pennsylvania Bar Institute's website at www.pbi.org/Courses/SpecificCourses/elder_inst.html

New Alzheimer's Planning Section Added to

Website

According to Robert Rosenberger, president and CEO of the Alzheimer's Association of Greater PA,  1 in 5 Americans will be diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease or related dementia sometime in their lifetime.  Chances are that you, or your loved one will be faced with Alzheimer's.  What do you do?  Where can you turn?

At Marshall & Associates, we have helped thousands of families who were facing a long term care crisis and we wanted to make some of these resources available to families and professionals who are struggling to find information. Our website now offers tips for choosing a nursing home, how professionals can help you through the process, Medicare, Medicaid, and other links for more information.  Check it out at www.paelderlaw.com/alz.html

If you have suggestions or comments about the section, or would like to link to our page, please e-mail us at webmail@paelderlaw.com.
